Beautiful Sardinia

As a travel agent, I am lucky to be able to visit some beautiful places. Sardinia is one such place. Before visiting, I expected beautiful beaches and Mediterranean sun. What I didn’t expect was the depth of history, the character of its villages, and the perfect balance between luxury and authenticity. Over the few days I was there, I explored this diverse region—staying in stylish resorts, swimming in impossibly clear waters, and wandering towns where the past lingers in every stone.

My base for the trip was Mangia’s Santa Teresa Resort , in a serene location surrounded by green hills, blue sea and granite boulders. The resort offered understated luxury—elegant yet relaxed, with infinity pool, chic coastal décor, and breezy outdoor dining areas. From breakfast with a sea view to quiet evenings under the stars, as well as beautiful sunsets and live DJ. We also visited the brand new Mangia’s resort 20 mins down the coast. On a larger scale, the stunning Mangia’s Sardinia Resort is breathtaking. All rooms take advantage of the incredible sea view and the beach is simply stunning.

Porto Cervo , around an hour away, was everything I’d imagined of Costa Smeralda’s glamorous reputation. Developed in the 1960s by Prince Karim Aga Khan IV as an elite holiday retreat, Porto Cervo still retains its exclusivity and charm. The marina is filled with sleek yachts, the streets with designer boutiques and cafés serving the best espresso money can buy.

Of course, Northern Sardinia is known for its coastline, and it didn’t disappoint. If I had had more time I would have loved to do a boat excursion to the Maddalena Archipelago, a collection of granite islands with some of the most stunning beaches in Europe.

Perhaps the most memorable stop on my trip was Castelsardo , a fortified medieval town perched on a cliff above the Gulf of Asinara. Founded by the Doria family of Genoa in the 12th century, Castelsardo has held strategic importance for centuries. Its old town is a maze of cobbled alleys, colourful homes, and panoramic terraces. I wandered through artisan shops selling woven baskets and intricate filigree jewellery, traditions passed down through generations.

What sets Northern Sardinia apart is its blend of sophistication and soul. From the polished calm of Mangia’s Resorts and the polished style of Porto Cervo to the timeworn stones of Castelsardo every part of the journey offered something different. The beauty and history speak for themselves.

Falling in Love with Parklane, a Luxury Collection Resort in Limassol, Cyprus

Arrival & First Impressions

From the moment I landed in Larnaca, I felt warmly welcomed. Our friendly driver chatted about Cypriot history and local tips as we made the short and scenic transfer to Limassol. On arrival at Parklane, I was shown to a spacious room overlooking the adults-only pool, complete with a personal welcome message on the TV—such a lovely touch!

Shortly after settling in, Lindsey invited me to join the group for drinks. We sipped sangria cocktails at Vithos, the chic poolside bar, while the other travel agents arrived. The setting was beautiful and relaxed, the perfect place to get to know each other before dinner. That evening, we dined at Il Teatro, an Italian restaurant with gorgeous views and incredible food—our first taste of the culinary magic to come.

Day 1: Exploring the Resort & Local Culture

The next morning began with a leisurely breakfast, and what a breakfast it was! The buffet was vast, with everything from fresh fruit and pastries to local Cypriot dishes.

We then had a full hotel tour, exploring different room types—including the breathtaking villas with private pools. Every room was stylish, spacious, and thoughtfully designed. The kids’ club was a real highlight too, especially the splash park and range of activities suitable for all ages. It’s clear that Parklane caters just as well to families as it does to couples and groups.

Lunch at Vithos was another standout, with fresh, delicious food served right by the water.

In the afternoon, we enjoyed some poolside relaxation before meeting again at 5pm for a special local cultural showcase held weekly at the resort. This included barefoot grape-crushing, Cypriot coffee tasting, and stalls with local crafts—an authentic and fun insight into the island’s traditions.

That evening, we explored the ancient ruins of Amathus, one of Cyprus’s most significant archaeological sites, followed by a sunset stroll around the stunning Limassol Marina. We ended the night with a feast at a traditional taverna in Limassol’s Old Town. The food just kept coming—mezze after mezze of incredible local dishes. It was a perfect end to a day full of flavour and history.

Day 2: Wellness, Beachside Dining & Fine Wines

On our final full day, I started the morning with fresh fruit at breakfast before splitting off with a few others to try aqua aerobics (we were more enthusiastic than skilled, but it was such fun!). Others opted for a padel tennis session, showing the range of wellness and sport options available at the resort.

Lunch took us to Nammos Limassol, an ultra-stylish beachfront restaurant that’s a must for anyone visiting Parklane. Great music, gorgeous sea views, and an elevated yet relaxed vibe made it a definite highlight—not to mention the food, which was absolutely out of this world.

After a free afternoon to soak up the sun, we regrouped for a wine tasting featuring local Cypriot wines—some of which were truly exceptional and perfect for pairing with Mediterranean cuisine. We rounded off the evening with a sensational dinner at La Petite Maison, where the cocktails were as memorable as the French-Mediterranean fare.

Saying Goodbye

All too soon, it was time to say goodbye. Our wonderful hosts—Lindsey and Scott from Seamless Travel Marketing, along with Christina and Evelyn from Parklane—ensured every moment was seamless, enjoyable, and informative.

Final Thoughts

Parklane Limassol is a standout property: luxurious without being over-the-top, elegant yet welcoming. The food at every restaurant was exceptional, the service faultless, and the facilities impressive for both couples and families. Whether you’re looking for a romantic escape, a family-friendly luxury resort, or a destination wedding venue, Parklane ticks every box.

One of the most exhilarating experiences was visiting Mystic Mountain – the zip-lining through the rainforest canopy was absolutely breathtaking! (Literally took my breath away.- I’m petrified of heights!) The views over Ocho Rios and the coastline are fab. Then there’s Dunn’s River Falls, where climbing the famous waterfalls hand-in-hand with fellow travellers creates an unforgettable bonding experience.

Cultural Immersion

I made sure to visit a local craft market where I picked up a bunch of souvenirs – the handcrafted items and local artwork make perfect mementos. The vendors were incredibly friendly and proud of their work, which really showcases the warm Jamaican spirit.

One thing that might surprise you – Jamaicans absolutely love KFC, and I can vouch that it tastes completely different in Jamaica than in the UK! It’s become such a local favourite that it’s practically a cultural experience in itself.

I also experienced a local supermarket (I love doing this when I’m away!) – it’s fascinating to see the local products, spices, and everyday items that give you real insight into how locals live.

A Memorable Journey Home

The perfect ending to this incredible FAM trip came on our flight home when we met the Jamaican national football team! They were traveling to the UK for their upcoming match against Trinidad & Tobago at the Brentford Community Stadium. The team’s anticipation and determination were infectious – you could feel their focus and excitement about the big game ahead!

It turned out to be the perfect send-off for them as they went on to win 3-2 on 27 May 2025. What a fantastic result! Meeting these talented athletes was such a special moment that really captured the spirit and passion that makes Jamaica so unique. Their dedication and pride reminded me once again why Jamaican culture is so vibrant and why visitors fall in love with the island’s energy.

The Rise of Slow Travel

Since COVID, there’s been a noticeable shift in the way people choose to travel. A growing number of travellers are embracing “slow travel”. But why? During the pandemic, we were forced to pause, to stop rushing and simply slow down. It seems that change in pace has had a lasting impact and is now influencing the way many people want to experience the world.

At The Holiday Fixer , we’ve seen this trend first hand. More of our clients are selecting just one destination and choosing to truly immerse themselves in the local culture and way of life. It’s about being fully present, connecting with the surroundings and embracing a slower, more meaningful journey.

Hotels are responding to this change too. Many are now offering authentic experiences that reflect the local culture. For instance, inviting guests to enjoy traditional cuisine made with seasonal, locally sourced ingredients and encouraging participation in regional traditions, environmental education and community-based activities.

Slow travel is less about ticking off destinations and more about collecting experiences. It’s wonderful for families. Children gain so much from spending time in new environments—meeting people from different backgrounds, trying unfamiliar foods and discovering ways of life they wouldn’t encounter at home. An enriching way to create lifelong memories together.

When our clients are travelling to a far-off destination that requires a stopover, we often suggest staying for a night or two en-route. While we understand this isn’t always possible due to time constraints, those who can take advantage of it usually find it makes the whole trip more relaxing and adds a different dimension to their holiday.

Often when we talk about “slow travel” people think it is referring to travelling by road or rail instead of flying. For many eco-conscious travellers, this is true with them opting for more sustainable ways to reach their destination. Thanks to the rise in high-speed and luxury rail options, especially across Europe, train travel has become an exciting, comfortable and feasible alternative to flying. Although slower than the train, driving gives you the freedom to stop where and when you want, often bringing new and unexpected experiences to your holiday.

A Travel Check List

The Christmas break is always a good time to start planning your holidays. It is fun researching destinations and having a firm date in the diary to look forward to is a really positive way to start the new year.

Here at The Holiday Fixer we believe that preparation is key to ensure everything runs smoothly. Last month, Gemma Perry, one of our Fixers who specialises in family holidays, was asked to put together an essential travel check list for Anything Goes Lifestyle which we thought would be helpful to share.

1. Travel documents

Passports and visas : Confirm your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your return date and check visa requirements for your destination. If booking through an agent, they will help you check, or provide the necessary links.
Boarding passes and tickets : Print physical copies or download any apps so you can save them to your device for easy access.
Travel insurance : Double-check that your policy is active, covers your destination, activities, and any pre-existing health conditions.

2. Health precautions

Vaccinations : Research and arrange any required vaccinations or medications, such as anti-malarials, well in advance.
Travel health kit : Pack essentials like pain relief, plasters and prescriptions with enough to last during your trip. I always take everything with me, better to be safe than sorry.

3. Finances

Currency : Order foreign currency or ensure your credit/debit cards will work abroad. Notify your bank to avoid any card blocks.
Travel budget : Plan for daily expenses, emergencies, and extras like tips or souvenirs.

4. Luggage

Packing : Review airline baggage policies and weigh your bags to avoid excess fees. Include weather-appropriate clothing and essentials like adapters.
Essentials : Keep valuable items like electronics, chargers and medications in your carry-on.

5. Technology

Phone settings : Check roaming charges and download offline maps, apps, and entertainment for your journey.
Backup : Photocopy important documents or store digital copies securely.

6. Travel plans

Itinerary : Share your travel plans with a trusted person. Include accommodation details and emergency contacts.
Check-in deadlines : Familiarise yourself with airport check-in and boarding times to avoid last-minute stress.

7. Local knowledge

Weather : Look up the forecast for your destination and pack accordingly.
Cultural etiquette : Research local customs, laws, and traditions to ensure respectful and smooth interactions.

8. Home arrangements

Security : Arrange for someone to check on your home, collect mail, and water plants.
Utilities : Set appliances to save energy while you’re away.

A little extra preparation before you leave ensures you can relax and enjoy your holiday without unnecessary stress.

Misleading Travel Advice

As an independent travel agent you get to hear a lot of travel advice that gets passed around. Most of it is well meaning, however a proportion isn’t worth paying much attention to and some you should actually ignore. We’ve had many clients questioning advice given to them and we thought it might be helpful to shed light on some of the more common examples.

“Always book flights and hotels way in advance.”

Booking early can at times get you a great deal. However, bear in mind that when availability goes down, prices go UP so it isn’t always the best approach.

Avoid visiting countries during peak tourist season.”

Yes, peak seasons are crowded and often more expensive, but they’re also “peak” for a reason. Think festivals, perfect weather or seasonal events. By avoiding peak times you might miss out on some of the best things your chosen destination has to offer and not get the full experience. Something you might live to regret, especially if you end up not going back.

“Stick to popular tourist spots for safety.”

While it is sensible to be cautious, you will have some of the best experiences when you go off the beaten track. Avoiding certain places due to a fear of the unknown can mean not getting to discover the more authentic and less commercialised parts of a country.

“Exchange currency before you travel.”

Not necessarily a good idea! In some countries you’ll get a better exchange rate at their cashpoints or banks than you will from your local currency exchange bureau. Also, withdrawing small amounts “on the go” can help with budgeting.

“Don’t eat street food – it’s unsafe.”

Street food is often the heart of local culture and not trying it can mean missing out on the real flavours of the country you are visiting. Just be cautious and choose busy stalls with a high turnover to ensure freshness.

“Always go for the cheapest option.”

Cheap certainly doesn’t mean better. Whether that is a flight with too many layovers, or a budget hotel with poor reviews, trying to save money upfront can lead to disappointment, more expenses and stress which you certainly don’t want or need on holiday. Most of us want to have quality and value for money so it is worth taking both factors into consideration when planning a holiday.

“To make the most of your trip you should have a packed itinerary.”

Overpacking your itinerary can lead to burnout. It’s really important to have some downtime to relax and explore spontaneously. Often the best experiences happen by accident, when you least expect it and when you are not rushing around. This is a key point for me when I am working on an itinerary. Whilst I help my clients see as much as possible, I always ensure they have time in their schedule to relax too.

“Travel Insurance is Unnecessary.”

One of the biggest misconceptions in travel is that insurance is an expense you can skip. The truth is that travelling without it is a gamble not worth taking. Whether you have a medical emergency, a cancelled flight or the airline loses your luggage, travel insurance can save you significant amounts of money and stress.

My Stay at The Hard Rock Hotel, Marbella

Nestled in the heart of Spain’s Costa del Sol, The Hard Rock Hotel in Marbella offers an electrifying blend of music, gastronomy and culture. Known for its rock’n’roll vibe this iconic hotel promises an unforgettable experience for music lovers whether locals or tourists. During my recent visit I found myself immersed in a world full of good time energy, where every corner echoed to the rhythm of music.

First Impressions

Arriving at the hotel I was immediately struck by its vibrant atmosphere. The exterior adorned with the classic Hard Rock logo really stands out. Stepping inside I was greeted by a wave of nostalgia. The walls are adorned with rock legend memorabilia including guitars, costumes and framed gold records which creates a museum-like ambiance.

Bedrooms

The Hard Rock has 383 bedrooms and offers an experience far beyond mere relaxation. Each room is designed to make guests feel like real rock stars! You can choose a soundtrack for your stay with Tracks, enjoy music on a Crosley Wax turntable and even organize your own jam session by hiring a guitar! The rooms are sound proof so you can play as loud as you like! Although I didn’t try this during my stay I know my son would have loved it.

I stayed in a Classic room. It was super cool and proves that the ordinary can sometimes be extraordinary.

I had a chance to look at some of the other rooms which were amazing and surpassed my expectations. For instance, The Rock Suite is 570 square feet, exudes comfort and music with 1960s decor. Then one up from that is the 1,506 square foot, Rock Star Suite and the pinnacle of exclusivity offering a truly legendary experience.

A Feast for the Senses

The Hard Rock, Marbella culinary experience is nothing short of spectacular. The menu is a harmonious blend of traditional Spanish flavours and classic European dishes catering to a diverse palate.

The buffet breakfast offered a huge variety satisfying everyone’s taste buds. One day we enjoyed a sumptuous three course meal that was as delicious as it was aesthetically pleasing.

The Music Experience

No visit to The Hard Rock would be complete without embracing and soaking up the live music scene. The hotel hosts local DJs and acts, creating a dynamic atmosphere that is hard to match. I enjoyed an evening with a local DJ who delivered upbeat tunes with infectious energy.

Memorabilia and Merchandise

A stroll through the Rock Shop was a must for me. Filled with exclusive Hard Rock “merch” the shop is a paradise for collectors and fans. From T-shirts and hoodies to pins and mugs, there is something for everyone. Needless to say, I couldn’t resist picking up a few souvenirs to remember my visit.

Pools

The Eden Pool Club: At the heart of the hotel, the Eden Pool offers a world of fun and entertainment. The atmosphere envelops you from the moment you set foot in it. There is a DJ booth in the middle of the pool and music playing, even underwater. It’s an experience like any other!

Sun Society: This trendy rooftop overlooking Marbella features an infinity pool that is certainly the perfect spot to completely unwind. I enjoyed the view overlooking the stunning Costa del Sol whilst sipping a delicious cocktail.

Location

The hotel is perfectly situated and is only a 5 minute stroll away from the Casino and Puerto Banus, an attractive marina perfect for people watching, shopping, drinking and eating. A must-visit spot when you’re in the area if you are wanting somewhere relaxing to watch the world go by.

Conclusion

My Unforgettable Trip to Jamaica

Holiday Fixer, Anna Simmons was recently invited to go on an eight night educational trip to Montego Bay in Jamaica, along with a group of other travel agents. The visit was hosted by Iberostar , Hyatt All-Inclusive and Norse Air .

Needless to say, Anna had a wonderful time and wanted to share her experience.

Flying with Norse Air

Our journey began by being pleasantly surprised by Norse Air. None of us had flown with this airline before and weren’t sure what to expect. The seats were remarkably comfortable and I was particularly impressed by the biodegradable food packaging – no plastic waste, a big plus for eco-conscious travellers like myself. There was plenty of onboard entertainment options including a good mix of new releases and classic films. Also there was a decent selection of drinks to choose from.

Norse Air operates on a budget friendly model allowing travellers to customize their experience by adding hand luggage, additional baggage and meals. This flexible approach makes the airline accessible to a wide range of budgets. As we came to land the northern lights were projected along the gangways on the ceiling. An original and fun touch which created a calming and enchanting atmosphere that everyone loved.

Welcome to Jamaica

Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly driver who made our transfer to the hotel a really enjoyable experience with lots of lively information interspersed with Bob Marley singalongs! He set the perfect tone for our stay and we immediately started to feel the vibrant, welcoming spirit of Jamaica.

A Taste of Luxury at Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites

The Iberia Selection Rose Hall Suites has an impressive reception area. We were quickly checked into our stunning rooms, each offering beautiful views of the pool or seafront. On our first evening we enjoyed a beachfront BBQ eating with our toes in the sand and the relaxing sound of the waves in the background. A perfect start to our stay!

The next day, after a fantastic buffet breakfast we embarked on a site visit of the other hotels in the Rose Hall complex. There are three hotels; the adults-only Iberostar Grand Rose Hall, the Iberostar Selection Rose Hall Suites and the Iberostar Rose Hall Beach. Each has its own unique atmosphere from the relaxed vibe of Rose Hall Beach to the calm, luxurious environment of the Grand.

Iberostar’s Commitment to the Environment

One of the highlights of Iberostar is their commitment to environmental sustainability. They are actively involved in rewilding mangrove areas, maintaining a plastic-free culture in their hotels and conducting scientific research on coral preservation. I was really impressed by The Star Camp, a children’s club that offers environmental education activities teaching kids about nature conservation in a fun and engaging way.

Moving to Secrets St. James

After five wonderful nights at the Iberostar complex we moved to Secrets St. James. We were greeted with a warm “Welcome Home” from the staff. Our rooms were stunning, featuring semi-open plan bathrooms with whirlpools and balconies offering beautiful views.

Exploring Zoetry and Secrets Resorts

Before settling into Secrets St. James we visited Zoetry Montego Bay. Described as “barefoot bliss” this boutique-style hotel is perfect for a romantic getaway or a peaceful retreat. The A la Carte dining, private beach and complimentary foot massage on arrival added to its charm.

At Secrets St. James we were treated to some delicious Jamaican cuisine. We also were given an educational tour of a haunted historic house courtesy of the Jamaican Tourist Board . The following day we explored the neighbouring Secrets Wild Orchid and Breathless Montego Bay. Breathless, with its party vibe and weekly foam parties, stood out as a favourite.

Final Day and Farewell

Our last day was spent enjoying the lively atmosphere at Breathless Montego Bay which included taking part in the foam party. Great fun! That evening we had our final dinner together at the rooftop restaurant where the food was exceptional and the service top-notch.

Reflections on My Trip To Jamaica

I had an amazing time experiencing some fantastic hotels. I can honestly say that Jamaica is one of friendliest places on the planet. The people are truly a blessing and they made stay there all the more enjoyable. Also it has reinforced my passion for travel and the importance of embracing new opportunities when they present themselves.

Discover the Charms of Grenada

Luxurious Stays

Silver Sands

One of the highlights of my trip was visiting Silver Sands, a luxury resort featured on the new ITV programme, The Fortune Hotel. This hotel epitomises elegance with its modern design, stunning beachfront location and exceptional service. The rooms are spacious and beautifully decorated providing the perfect sanctuary after a day exploring the island.

Spice Island

I also had the pleasure of staying at Spice Island, a hotel with personal significance as my friends got married there 15 years ago. It was absolutely incredible. The staff’s attention to detail, especially specific needs and allergies, was remarkable. Each staff member remembered and called you by your name, adding a personal touch to the experience. The rooms and facilities were truly 5-star, the hotel staff were always one step ahead in anticipating your needs. I had made a comment about how much ice I loved in my drinks and each evening they provided a full ice bucket in my room! The cocktail and rum menus were extensive and delicious. The wine selection was also fantastic. This hotel caters for all ages with plenty of activities available, making it my favourite hotel on the island.

Thrilling Excursions

Jeep Safari Adventure

Our adventure kicked off with an exhilarating jeep safari through Grenada. We ventured up to the island’s highest point, the 1910 Lookout, which offers breath taking panoramic views of the lush landscapes and surrounding seas. Standing at this vantage point, you truly get a sense of the island’s natural beauty and diverse terrain.

Waterfall Lunch

Following our jeep safari, we stopped at a picturesque waterfall for lunch. The serene environment, combined with the soothing sounds of cascading water, made for a perfect midday break. It was a refreshing escape into nature and great spot to relax and enjoy a meal.

Sweet Treats and Cultural Delights

House of Chocolate

No trip to Grenada would be complete without visiting the House of Chocolate . This charming establishment is more than just a shop; it’s a museum and cafe dedicated to the rich history of chocolate making on the island. We learned about the traditional methods of making chocolate, sampled various delicious treats, and of course, bought plenty to take home. The staff even encouraged us to indulge more by highlighting chocolate’s health benefits and delicious flavours.

Memorable Moments

Sunset Boat Cruise

One of the most memorable experiences was our sunset boat cruise. As we sailed along the coast we were treated to stunning views of the sun setting over the horizon, casting a golden glow across the water. It was a magical evening, filled with good company and beautiful scenery.

Eco Park and Underwater Sculptures

Our visit to the Eco Park was another highlight. The park is famous for its underwater sculpture park, the first of its kind in the world. Created by sculptor Jason de Caires Taylor, the sculptures serve as an artificial reef, promoting marine life and offer a unique snorkelling experience. Swimming among these underwater artworks was both eerie and fascinating, and it underscored Grenada’s commitment to environmental sustainability.

A Destination to Remember

Grenada is truly an upcoming gem in the Caribbean. The island’s natural beauty, coupled with the warmth and kindness of its people, make it a destination worth exploring. The food was another standout, with fresh, flavoursome dishes that showcased the island’s culinary heritage.

In summary, my trip to Grenada was filled with incredible experiences, luxurious stays and unforgettable adventures. I would highly recommend visiting this beautiful island to anyone looking for a mix of relaxation and excitement. An Interview with Holiday Fixer, Gemma Perry

In this interview we find out more about Gemma Perry who has been a Holiday Fixer since 2019. Gemma has always loved travelling and with a young family of her own, she has chosen to specialise in family travel.

What inspired you to become a travel agent?

From a young age, I’ve harboured an insatiable urge to explore the world, perhaps driven by a fear of missing out (FOMO). My childhood was blessed, and I experienced some incredible holidays to far off destinations, which now I realise was laying the foundation for my passion for travel. When I became a parent later in life, my desire to travel the globe intensified. My goal is to ensure my children get to experience and understand different countries, cultures and most importantly their traditions.

My journey towards becoming a travel agent was serendipitous. It was during a holiday encounter with the delightful Britt-Marie Monks the the spark was ignited. You know those moments when you strike up a conversation and discuss professions? Well, when Britt-Marie revealed she had her own travel business and encouraged me to consider doing the same, it planted a see of possibility in my mind. Eventually I found my place with The Holiday Fixer and despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, I remain committed to crafting dream journeys for others.

What do you enjoy most about being a Holiday Fixer?

What I enjoy and find most fulfilling is the united support I receive from my fellow Fixers. Working remotely can sometimes feel isolating and challenging to stay motivated, but knowing that we’re all in this together, pushing towards success in our businesses and serving our clients, brings a sense of camaraderie and purpose.

What in particular do you think drives you to be successful?

For me, success is defined by the ability to dedicate time to being a mum. In my previous corporate role which involved extensive travel, I never imagined I would have the opportunity to be the kind of mum you could drop off her children at school and collect them again at the end of the day.

Moreover, my passion for travel and exploration runs deep. I thrive on the thrill of doing research, the challenge of seemingly impossible tasks and the sheer delight in my clients’ voices when I present the perfect solution for them.

Growing up I witnessed my own mother, a single parent and business owner, working tirelessly to provide for us. Her resilience and determination left an indelible mark on me. I aspire for my daughters to witness first hand the dedication and perseverance required to fulfill their dreams. I want them to understand that with determination there are no limits to what they can achieve provided they just give it a go and believe in what they’re doing.

Do you and your family have a favourite place you like to go on holiday?

As a rule we strive to explore a new destination every year. Despite our efforts, none of us can reach a consensus on a favourite place because each opportunity for family time in a new country or destination has gifted us with unforgettable memories and experiences.

What type of holiday do you find your customers tend to book – relaxing, active or a mix?

Since Covid, there has been a notable transformation in people’s preferences for travel and exploration. In the past, a significant portion of clients preferred single-centre destinations. However, the demand has shifted dramatically with multi-centre, multi-activity holidays now being the most popular choice.

Fortunately, I have access to a wealth of reputable and knowledgeable suppliers. Leveraging their expertise, I can collaborate with them to develop tailored itineraries that perfectly align with my clients’ specific desires and individual requirements. This enables me to offer bespoke experiences that cater to each traveller’s unique preferences, ensuring an exceptional and memorable holiday for all.

Weekend city breaks are always popular. Is there a city you would particularly recommend?

Barcelona holds a special place in my heart as my favourite city break destination for several reasons.

The city boasts a unique blend of rich history, stunning architecture, vibrant culture and a lively atmosphere. From the iconic works of Antoni Gaudi , such as the Sagrada Familia and Park Guell, to the charming Gothic Quarter with its narrow streets and medieval buildings, Barcelona is a visual delight at every turn. It’s got someone for everyone.

Secondly, Barcelona offers a diverse culinary scene that caters to all tastes and preferences. From traditional Catalan dishes to innovative gastronomic experiences, the city’s restaurants, tapas bars and markets are feast for the senses. Also, Barcelona’s location of the Mediterranean coast means that it enjoys a mild climate, making it an ideal destination year-round.

Lastly, it’s the energy and spirit of Barcelona that truly captivates me. The city’s locals, known as Barcelonians, are warm and welcoming, adding to the overall sense of hospitality and charm.

Many of us have a travel “bucket list”. Do you have one, or if you were to create one, which country would be top of your list and why?

I maintain an extensive bucket list, one that I’ve had to adjust numerous times to ensure it aligns with my children’s ages! As I craft itineraries for my clients, new destinations consistently make their way onto my list.

If I had to name one now, it would be Canada . A country that holds a special allure for me. It’s vastness, ranging from bustling cities to pristine national parks is truly remarkable. I’m fascinated not only by the quality of life Canadians enjoy but also by the breath-taking beauty of their country.

Canada is home to one of the world’s most iconic natural wonders, the Niagara Falls. Additionally, I’ve a deep longing within me to encounter a bear in its natural habitat – or, at least, I think I do! The prospect of witnessing these magnificent creatures in the wild fills me with excitement tinged with touch of apprehension.
