St Kitts
It’s the phone call we all hope to receive: from the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO) offering me an all-expenses paid familiarisation trip around three of the most beautiful islands they have to offer. How could I say no?!
So, on Wednesday 30th May, together with ten other travel agents, I flew out with BA (who gave us a complimentary upgrade to Club Class) and headed to St Kitts. We were greeted at the airport by the lovely Jennifer from St Kitts Tourism and our driver, Mr Maynard who were with us throughout our stay.
Our Host Hotel
Our first stop was the Park Hyatt Hotel where we enjoyed a two-night stay. I could not fault the hospitality at this hotel, which opened in November 2017. The rooms in this sprawling hotel were huge and offered a stunning sea or garden view. There were 78 regular rooms and 48 suites, many of which offered a private pool or secluded beach area. Being on the Caribbean side of the island, with its own beach this offered a romantic and quiet option ideal for honeymooners.
Amenities included amazing food across 3 restaurants 1 of which was adult only. including a breakfast experience not to be missed, as well as a spa with massage rooms, yoga classes and meditation; a 24-hour gym; sauna and steam room; plunge pools; and a children’s club for ages four to 12. Babysitting was available for those younger guests. The hotel boasted two pools, one with an adult-only section for those interested in a relaxing dip.
Our Excursions
We didn’t stop here long, before heading to the Fairview Great House, an ancient plantation house that was once a hotel exclusively for royalty but is now a wonderful wedding venue. Built in 1701, it hosts 18th century dinners, food and rum tours, the latter of which we attended. We walked through the distillery and enjoyed the delicious flavours – the mango rum was 78% proof and a bit of a shock at 9.30am! Hosted by Doreen from Kantours it was a fantastic way to spend the morning.
Belle Mont Farm was our next stop – a 14-bed property with 33 one-bed cottages and three beautiful villas. We enjoyed an amazing lunch here before wandering around the resort, which boasted an infinity pool, 18-hole golf course, three restaurants, nature walks and yoga. A fabulous luxury resort, it also provided free transport to the beach.
The Marriot is the largest hotel in St Kitts, with 389 rooms, nine restaurants, a casino, three pools, golf course, gym and spa. We spent a short time in this very Americanised hotel, which is just a ten-minute walk from the main strip.
Finally, we visited Royal St Kitts, a large, condominium style hotel with amazing hospitality and much more to my liking!
In between the hotel dashes, we got the opportunity to go zip lining through the forests with Sky Safaris St Kitts. The idea terrified me, but I conquered my fears and zipped my way through all five lines, including the longest one at 1050m and 500m above sea level. From there, the lines got shorter but faster – a must-do experience for visitors to the island.

At the end of our two days, we caught the speedboat shuttle to Nevis.
